Christmas 2000 in Beckyland

Welcome to Beckyland. I thought you might like to see pictures of some of the decorations. All of them are quite special to me, and all were gifts. Many were gifts from my mother.

Tree

As you see, the tree itself is rather small. It's actually a candle in the shape of a tree, and the garland that's on it was originally part of the giftwrap. A friend gave me this for my birthday years ago---and it's been my tree every year since.

Ornaments on Wall Piano

The ornaments are on the wall above my piano. The framed white one to the left is the Advent Wreath I told you about earlier this month. The placement of each ornament varies from year to year.

Santa and Killer Cane

The Santa is carved. He's not the usual image we have of Santa Claus, is he? But I really like him. One of my cousins gave him to me; she has several similar ones as part of her decorations each year. And the green ball is hanging from Killer the Cane---my mother's quad cane, named Killer because she used to "park" it in such a way that I often bumped into it. I would get smacked (in a, ummm, sensitive area) hard enough to think I was going to get killed. Killer lives with me now, and if I have to go out in icy weather, he goes along.

Merry Christmas

This is perhaps the most special of the ornaments, because it's one of the last ones Mother bought me. She got it just for fun for my birthday one year. It is hooked on the utility closet door, about at eye level.

Noel

Last, but not least, the Noel bell pull that graces the inside of my front door. A friend in my hometown made it for a church bazaar, of burlap and felt and the balls from ball fringe. She was a treasured friend, and this is a treasured piece.
